Barometric
Dampers prevent appliance over- firing due to excess
draft. They increase residence time of gases within the
firebox, enhancing combustion. This means less creosote
with wood fired appliances. Field barometric dampers
represent the “State of the Art” in draft controls,
featuring heavy duty construction with high sensitivity.
Precision calibrated at the factory for both
horizontal and vertical installation. The controls to
the right are designed for use where a TEE is provided. |

INSTALLATION GUIDELINES
Make sure that the draft control is plum and level, the
front face is exactly vertical, and that the hinge pins
are in exact horizontal plane. At Sleepy Hollow we use a
technique that ensures true horizontal levelness. Place
a mason’s line level on the V adjustment knob found only
on Field controls “AF & RC.” Even in extremely tight
firebox settings a barometric damper can always be
perfectly leveled. An inspection mirror is very handy
for this purpose. When
damper is plum and level, secure in TEE with a #8 TEK
screw. This is extremely important on COAL stove
installations, as occasional gas explosions within the
stove can cause barometric damper to “BLOW-OUT.” |

KEY DAMPERS
We install manual Key Dampers as close to the stove
collar as possible. This adjustable baffle increases
residence time and helps quench licking exhaust flames
trying to enter the flue. The barometric damper would
follow, controlling the flue’s draft signal. |
